Are you interested in meeting and learning more about the candidates running for the six At-Large seats on Charleston City Council?

Join Charleston Main Streets (CMS) on Thursday, March 15 at 6 PM at the Charleston Light Opera Guild for the first of our Face to Face Urban Development Candidate forum series! Admission is free and seating is first come first serve. A moderated panel of candidates will take the stage and answer questions submitted directly from Charleston citizens and the audience. A candidate meet and greet with local hors d'oeuvres will follow directly after the forum.


This event is for public education purposes in relation to urban business and community development. CMS is a private, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and does not/will not endorse or advocate for any candidate running for public office.

    CMS's mission is to strengthen business on the West Side and East End of the city so all residents, tourists, and business owners can grow and thrive. Take a look at our four pillars of development and decide the area of focus in which you'd like to direct your question to the candidate.

    Business & Economic Development - This includes business recruitment, business incentives, creating a healthy environment for business to develop, grow, and thrive.
    Business Promotion & Advancement - This includes strategies for promoting and assisting existing businesses that dwell within the city, incentives to keep them in Charleston, and working with local agencies to promote business growth.
    Public Space Enhancement - This includes both large and small scale improvements such as the Civic Center, adaptive reuse projects for historic properties, public art initiatives, and block by block redevelopments of the urban center of the city.
    Marketing, Tourism, & Events - This includes annual events to attract visitors and residents to the city's urban core, marketing strategies to change the perception of Charleston's urban business districts, and working with local tourism agencies to promote the city.
