5treetWorks presented by Energy Systems Group will take place Friday, July 24th from 7 PM - 9 PM online. A live raffle event to take place via Zoom & Facebook will feature one of kind pieces created by local artists celebrating drag culture in Charleston, WV. 12 artists will create images of 12 well-known drag queens from town both past and present. These pieces will be raffled off during a live event on July 24th.
This event will officially kick off June 24th at noon with the first of 4 “Pass the brush” style videos about the event. Each video will showcase 3 artists, 3 drag queens and 3 sponsors. Corresponding videos will be released on July 1, July 8, & July 15. Promotions will go up around the videos with sneak peaks of the pieces being created that people can purchase raffle tickets for.
During the event, we will also showcase each drag queen celebrated in the videos either by a live conversation with host Miss Viki Williams or a short pre-recorded performance between each raffled piece.
The StreetWorks 2020 Online Raffle will raise funds for the installation of a new mural created from this year's StreetWorks pieces. This mural will celebrate the drag culture of Charleston by honoring 12 well-known drag queens and performers, both past and present. The proposed location of this new installation, currently known as the "East End LGBTQ Gateway Mural," on the side of the Lee Street Lounge building near the Leon Sullivan and Lee St. intersection.
